The item operates intuitively and I didn't need to read the instructions to either set the clock and stations nor to operate the radio. The headphones I received with the unit are by Sony and are of the cheapest quality, although their sound isn't terrible. You'll likely want to upgrade to a better pair. If you've never considered buying a refurbished electronics item, a low price such as this one ($16 as of this writing) might make you reconsider. Since so many mp3 players don't receive AM and Weather signals, this is for me a great solution, allowing me music, news, and talk while working in the outdoors. Two suggestions for improvement: 1) Back-light the display; 2) Change the volume wheel to a two-button (+/-) control -- the volume wheel can be turned when leaning over resulting in a sudden volume change and volume is not maintained by the Hold button if turned when Hold is in the on position.Highly recommended. This radio works perfectly and is exactly what I needed: Small, excellent reception in all bands (including weather), digital presets for 25 stations, clock, uses only one AAA battery that lasts for many, many hours (and the display shows remaining battery life), local/DX switch, and a very responsive volume wheel located on the top. I received the Walkman Radio in perfect condition, headphones, instruction manual, and warranty (90 days), carefully packaged, and all for a much lower price than new and without the risk of a used item w/out warranty and unknowns such as possible abuse by the prior owner. Most appreciated is a Hold button, preventing accidental changes via accidental button-pushing.
no can receive. But now with everything gone digital. Other than this crucial loss though, a GREAT little pocket radio. Just wanted to say that the tv listening aspect of this walkman no longer applies as of today. Terrible bummer as I used it regularly for the past few years.
I high recommend this radio especially if you like AM radio. This Walkman works very good in Houston, Texas as far as reception is concerned. I also saved fifteen bucks buying it through Amazon as opposed to Target, Best Buy and a couple of other places.
A great buy and a great product. I tried several different brands of "portable" radios and found this dandy to pull in my favorite talk shows from over 50 miles away with great clarity. I use it while mowing, walking, working in the yard; anytime I am outside.
It is not useful to me, and I am returning it. This radio is light and small, but it is a terrible receiver-- even using the dx setting. The reception is uneven and full of hiss as you move around.
